THE biggest Monster League yet is on this Saturday, with seven bands from around the country performing at Kiama Leagues Club.

These include The Statics from Melbourne, who are on a national tour, and The Hotel Charlie from Sydney.

Wollongong-based Lost In Line are using the Monster League gig to launch their new album Smiles That Scream.

The rest of the line-up consists of local acts Billy Jean Demos, Conspiracy Plan, Effing Seas and Howling Tongues.

Concert organiser Aaron Murphy said the event was getting bigger every month and bands from Kiama, Wollongong and even Sydney were asking to come and play in our town.

“All the bands playing are of the highest standard,” Mr Murphy said.

“Hotel Charlie are currently my favourite Australian band, so I am very excited to have them on board for this show.

“Howling Tongues recently progressed through their heat of the uni band comp and will soon be playing in the finals and Conspiracy Plan have had songs selected for compilation CDs, including one for Blunt magazine.”

The Statics’ national Any of This tour coincides with the release of their debut single.

Bass player and vocalist Pat McKenna said: “After so much work in the rehearsal studio, it’s going to be great to finally take the single on the road.”

Their debut album is due out on July 12. The show kicks of at 6.30pm upstairs in Kiama Leagues Club. Entry is $5 a person.
