By popular demand, Gail Page will be returning to Beaches Hotel this Sunday as part of the Blues Explosion line-up.

A former Illawarra girl, Gail has performed as a headliner at venues and festivals throughout Australia including the Australian Blues Festival 2008 (Goulburn), Thredbo Blues Festival 2008, Gosford Blues Festival and Tamworth Country Festival and will be performing at the prestigious Blues at Broadbeach festival next month.

Music historian and editor from Drum Magazine, Michael Smith wrote, “She’s got that rare, authentic vocal tone that reeks of the best American “old school” soul/blues/gospel singers. There’s a definite Nina Simone kind of lilt, though Page’s range is broader and her delivery more supple – soft and velvety one minute, dark and powerful when it needs to be and deeply imbued with the wear and tear of having lived: a real woman’s voice.”

The line-up includes popular local band the Ginhouse Bluesband featuring Tony Cini, Jono Dallimore, Al Britton (Bondi Cigars) and Bruce Stephens.

To kick off proceedings is Merrimbula’s Kim Churchill – an Illawarra Folk Festival favourite who has shared the stage with Ash Grunwald, Lloyd Spiegel and Adam Hole and is rated by Marshall Okell (Marshall and the Fro) as one of Australia’s best guitarists.

Gail Page will be performing with Parris Macleod, the award winning producer of Gail’s album Colours That Run and top gun session guitar player David Longo. (Doug Parkinson, Australian Idol and Paulini). Awarded “Best New Talent” and “Best Female Vocalist” at the

2008 Australian Blues Music Chain Awards, Gail has one of the most powerful voices in the business.
Page and Macleod have started production on her second album which is due for release later in the year.
