ATHLETES IN THE ZONE

KIAMA Little Athletics Club have returned from the Zone championships in Dapto last weekend with 96 medals.
Out of the 41 representatives, 27 have qualified to compete at the regional championships to be held in West Wyalong.
On the track it was Jenaya Zivkovic (U15 200m & 90m hurdles) and Talissa Scott (U14 long jump and triple jump) who not only won all of their events but broke a number of records in the process.
While Tanya Poppett broke the 1500m walk record. Samantha Broadhead also won all of her events in the under 13 age group.
Eleven athletes also won medals in each of their events, with Tessa Gordon (U7), Rydge Smith (U8), Hayden Moon (U9), Alanna Smith and Erin Chard (U10), Emily Booth (U12), Alice Hewitt and Abbie Taddeo (U13), Alysse Smith and Ben Pressley (U14) and Tanya Poppett was in the medals in the under 15.
Others to do well were Nathan Cowgill, Ruby Chard and Michael Robinson in the under 7s. Jade Cowgill, Ella Harris and Jasmin Pressley in the under 8s. Josh Vazoller, Samantha McGillivray, Audrey Pring, Amy Prytherch and Kelsey Wishart in the under 9s.
Dylan McGillivray, Mitchel Scott, Larni Cowgill, Sophie Hewitt, Keeleigh McCauley and Riley Wishart in the under 10s. Dylan Canderle, Kirsten Nash, Sarah Doblander, Lanae Robinson and Georgia Hosking in the under 11s. Simon Meaney, Sarah Broadhead and Callum Wishart in the under 12s. While Chad Gordon and Katie Robinson competed well in the under 13s.
The Kiama club won the Mach Past and finished third in the Dean Blair Trophy for overall point score.
Kiama finished second in both the junior girls and senior girls 4x100m relay and third in the Junior Boys 4x100m.
While the junior girls relay team were just beaten in a photo finish in one of the best races of the day.
