Athletes celebrate great season

KIAMA Little Athletics Centre celebrated one of their most successful seasons with their presentation at their Kiama Sporting Complex home on Friday night.
More than 200 athletes, parents and family attended the night, which saw Talissa Scott, Ryan Alexander, Nathan Jenkins and Hayden Moon take out the major awards.
Talissa won the Dean Blair Memorial Trophy for Over All Pointscore, ahead of under 10s competitor Ryan and under 9s athlete Nathan.
Under 9 athlete Hayden Moon won of the inaugural Coaches Award, which recognises the most improved athlete of the season.
Also new in 2006-07 is the www.lakiama.com Outstanding Achievement Award, to recognise outstanding performances during the season.
Talissa Scott completed a great double by winning this award in recognition of her triumph at the State Multi event.
In 2006-07, Talissa was a Zone, Regional and State representative, won two silver medals at the State Championships, gold at the State Multi Event and medals at the NSW CHS, NSW All-Schools and Australian All-Schools Championships.
She broke several club records, two Zone records, and a Regional record in a powerhouse 2006-07 campaign.
This season was Talissa"s third Dean Blair Memorial-winning season, meaning she can wear the coveted #1 patch in her final season of Little Athletics.
Nine athletes were presented with Medallions for achieving 20 or more Personal Bests this season.
They were Rachel Rivstoski, Isabella Waldie and Hunter Nicholls (under 6s), Astrid Nicholls and Nathan Jenkins (under 9s), Alanna Smith and Ryan Alexander (under 10s), Talissa Scott (under 14s) and Tanya Poppett (under 15s).
A big thank you to all volunteers who helped make the season a success.
Kiama Little Athletics" centre"s committee recognises the fact that without them the club could not function.
