Opposing captains Trevor Fredericks and Terry Graham are readying themselves for the annual Blow-In vs. Born-n-Bred cricket game this Australia Day.

SHORT of sailing a tall ship into Sydney Harbour dressed as Captain Arthur Phillip, Jamberoo residents may have stumbled across the most true blue way to spend Australia Day.

Now in its 6th year, the annual Blow In versus Born and Bred cricket game will see the cream of the regions athletic talent trying to bat, bowl and sledge their way towards sporting immortality.

Devised between team captains Terry Graham and Trevor Fredericks between beers at the Jamberoo Hotel, the fixture is seen as a light-hearted state of origin style contest between the two sections of the town.

It has turned into a pretty healthy, jovial sort of rivalry over the years, skipper of the Born and Bred team Trevor Fredericks said.

Some of the blow ins side have lived in Jamberoo for over 50 years but the rules state you arent local unless you were born here.

The concept is basically a light hearted way of playing up the division between the town.

You have the hard working rural types who were born here and then all the flashy Ferrari drivers who have moved here later, he laughed.

A 33 over match played under traditional social cricket rules, the big fixture has seen some of the regions most renowned former and current cricketers pulling on the creams.

Former player Paul Warby is keen this year he has been training for some time trying to see if he can make it for that second run this year, Blow In Captain Terry Graham said. As always we have a really good mix of older and younger players, the standard of cricket is really quite varied.

Basically each side has a mixture of aged gentlemen, active ex-players, current players and this year we even have a few father and sons who are on opposing sides to make things a bit more interesting.

Starting at 1pm this Friday the annual Blow In versus Born and Bred Cricket match will take place at Kevin Walsh Oval.
