A show you’d be crazy to miss

ROO Theatre Company will perform the toe-tapping romantic musical Crazy For You from Friday.

The Gershwin musical, about 1930"s playboy Bobby Child (Danny Condon), who just wants to dance, features some of the most memorable tunes ever written, including Embraceable You, They Can"t Take That Away From Me and I Got Rhythm.

Roo Theatre Company is proud to bring to life the music and dance routines that helped this musical become a multi-award winner on Broadway in the early 1990s, much in the same way that Bobby wants to bring to life his dream of becoming a dancer despite the serious efforts of his mother (Linda Campbell) and soon-to-be ex-fiancée Irene (Emma Spillett).

Producer Michael Glover said Bobby"s journey to Deadrock, Nevada, a town that has seen better days, introduces the audience to the love of his life, Polly Baker (Lisa O"Connell), as well Lank the saloon owner (Andrew Rolf), Zangler the dance director (Sam Ford) and many more characters who are just plain crazy!

"It"s a high energy comedy which included mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music," Mr Glover said.

Crazy For You is a local production harnessing the talents of the region.

The production once again brings together the dynamic duo of director Wendy Glover and choreographer Pauline Young, the team that successfully brought Grease to the IPAC in 2004.

This musical introduces the young an vibrant Peter Copeland as the musical director of a superb 16-piece orchestra.

"Crazy For You is a show the whole family will enjoy and sing along with," Mr Glover said.
