GERRINGONG beat Gainsborough 2 20-16 in a tight Kiama Netball Association A grade match on Saturday.
Hayley Uren, filling in from B grade had a strong game for Gerringong, as did intermediates player Alysse Smith for Gainsborough.
Scores were locked 3-all at quarter time and 8-all at the main break before Gerringong got their noses in front 14-11 at three-quarter time.
In the other A grade matches Gerringong 1 proved too strong for Gainsborough 3, winning 37-19.
Beachettes defeated Kiama Downs 36-32 in another tight tussle and Gainsborough 1 had to fight hard to defeat Kiama Central 33"29.
In the A reserve competition Kiama Central 2 defeated Gainsborough 6 51-32 and the Kiama Central 4 team defeated Gainsborough 4 by 46-24.
The two remaining games in A Reserve saw Kiama Downs 2 defeat Beachettes 2 by 56 points to 34 and Kiama Central 3 defeat Gainsborough 5 by 68 points to 36.
Gerringong 4 beat Gainsborough 8 by 37 points to 22 in B grade.
Talissa Scott, filling in from intermediates, held her and showed that she could be a permanent fixture next year.
In the other B grade games, Gainsborough 7 had to overcome a spirited Beachettes 2 team 32"28 and Gerringong 3 held on to defeat Kiama Downs 3 by 35 points to 26.
In C grade competition, Kiama Central 5 and Gerringong 5 had a great tussle with the Kiama Central team taking the match 30"21 and Berry 1, who looked like struggling for players at the start of the season kept their unbeaten record intact with a 26-18 win over Gainsborough 9.
In the final match in this division, Gainsborough 10 completely outplayed their Gerringong opponents 32"12.
In the modified Koalas division this week, Gerringong and Kiama Central had a great game.
Gerringong's Keeley Doherty, Jessica Nolan, Harlie Singleton, Shaylee Dodd, Holly Grigg, Jennie Smith, Rosie Dingle-Moss and Lucy Turner all played well.
For Kiama Central Zoe Dignam, Karen Hackenberg and Tiarn East played well and will probably follow in their Kiama representative sisters' footsteps in years to come. They were supported by Olivia Deans, Rainer Innes, Kaitlin Smith and Kate Lewis.
